We now have an official FIFA World Cup 2026 song

We’re less than a month away from the start of the biggest sporting event on the planet. The 2026 edition of the World Cup starts in Mexico City on June 11 with a match between Mexico and South Africa. The next day, the first game hosted in Canada will kick off in Toronto first us vs. Bosnia and Herzegovina.

This tournament’s official song comes from Shakira and Burna Boy. “Dai Dai” was unveiled in New York at Global Citizen NOW. The new FIFA Global Education Fund wants to raise US$100 million by the end of the tournament. Money will go to children in underserved communities so they can have access to education and sports.

Sony, the issuing label, has pledged to match the first US$250,000 raised. Shakira’s royalties will be donated to the fund, and she’s donating a dollar from every ticket sold for her upcoming world tour.

Shakira will also be a co-headliner at the first-ever World Cup halftime show for the final at Met Life Stadium in New Jersey on July 19. Madonna, BTS, and, er, The Muppets. Chris Martin of Coldplay is the official curator.
