Weed becomes legal in Canada on October 17. Here’s a song about that.

Come October 17, Canada will become the second national after Paraguay to make weed legal. Andrew Ahlsten has written a song about this unusual event. (Note the shout-out to Gord Downie in the lyrics. BTW, October 17 is also the first anniversary of his death. A coincidence?)

Here are the lyrics in case you want to sing along:

 We breathe it in
We breathe it out
Quiet night
It’s what we’re all about
Sit by the fire, As we’re getting higher
Munching on our brownies
Making jokes and passing tokes
Listen’n to Gord Downy

We’ll be smoke’n it
So take another hit
Made it through somehow
They can’t arrest us now
We’ll be smoke’n it
And NO ONE GIVES S#$%!
Made it through somehow
They can’t arrest us now!

I got a girl
Ya know she’s my world
Says she’s not a light weight, But she is…
I got a guy
Ya know he gets me so high
Pass me the 4:20….
Or you’re not getting any – Oh!

We got concerns that need
Clarification
The Big mac, Brownie mix, Visine
Shortage across the nation!
Is this world ready?
For the group we’re raisin?
Coming, not with guns, but definitely blazing!
