Weekly Canadian music sales and streaming stats: 03 May 2021

I should have posted this last night when the email arrived, but I was too busy watching Family Guy. Here’s the latest update on how the Canadian recorded music industry is going this week, starting with year-over-year comparisons.

  • Total album sales, -11.0%
  • CD sales, -15.7%
  • Digital albums, -21.1%
  • Digital tracks, -25.8%
  • Vinyl LPs, +60.9% (!!!)
  • On-demand audio streams, +15.1%

Now let’s look at things compared to the previous week.

  • Total album sales, -33.4%
  • CD sales, -55.3%
  • Digital albums, -2.4%
  • Digital tracks, 0.0%
  • Vinyl LPs, -17.4%
  • On-demand audio streams, +1.0% (1.878 billion streams in the country last week)
