Weekly Canadian music sales and streaming stats: 05 September 2022

Okay, we’re a day late, but Monday was a holiday. Here’s how the Canadian recorded music is fairing as it heads into the fall season.

Year-over-year comparisons:

  • Total album sales, -10.6%
  • CD sales, -5.0%
  • Digital albums, -18.4%
  • Digital tracks, -17,4%
  • Vinyl LPs, -2.8%
  • On-demand audio streams, +13.7%

Now let’s compare last week with the week before:

  • Total album sales, -24.5% (Wow. What happened there?)
  • CD sales, -41.5% (Yikes)
  • Digital albums, -6,4%
  • Digital tracks, +4.9%
  • Vinyl LPs, -20.0% (Whoa.)
  • On-demand audio streams, +0.8% (2.191 billion streams in the country last week)
