We’re a little more than halfway through the summer. What’s the state of music sales and streaming in Canada in 2022 so far? Let’s take a look at the latest figures from Luminate.

Year-over-year comparisons:

  • Total album sales, -10.1%
  • CD sales, -4.4%
  • Digital albums, -19.1%
  • Digital tracks, -18.1%
  • Vinyl LPs, -2.1%
  • On-demand audio streams, +13.6%

Let’s now compare last week to the week before. Note the Beyonce effect.

  • Total album sales, +3.6%
  • CD sales, +3.0%
  • Digital albums, +8.4%
  • Digital tracks, -3.3%
  • Vinyl LPs, +9.5%
  • On-demand audio streams, -1.3% (2.150 billion streams in the country last week)
