There are just a few weeks left in the spring release period and US Memorial Day weekend–the start of the summer music season–beckons. So where do things stand to this point in 2023? Let’s look at the weekly stats from Luminate, starting with comparing last week to the same week last year.

  • Total album sales, -5.0%
  • CD sales, -8.3%
  • Digital album sales, -12.6%
  • Digital track sales, -9.5%
  • Vinyl LPs, +17.2%
  • On-demand audio streams, +15.9%

Now we’ll compare last week to the week before,

  • Total album sales, +8.4%
