Weekly Canadian music sales and streaming stats: 09 May 2022

If it’s Monday, it means that Luminate should have the weekly Canadian music sales and streaming stats. These are the numbers the recorded music industry looks at every week.

We begin by comparing last week to the same week in 2021.

  • Total album sales, +11/5%
  • CD sales, -3.7%
  • Digital albums, -21.8%
  • Digital tracks, -20.4%
  • Vinyl LPs, -0.5%
  • On-demand audio streams, +13.1%

Now let’s look at the differences between last week and the week before.

  • Total album sales, -2.8%
  • CD sales, +2/4%
  • Digital albums, +3.0%
  • Digital tracks, +0.3%
  • Vinyl LPs, -22.3% (there was no Record Store Day last week like there was the week before)
  • On-demand audio streams, +1.7% (2.185 billion streams in the country last week)
