The weekly stats on Canadian music sales and streaming from MRC Data came through as usual Monday night. Here’s how things look to our recorded music industry this week, starting with year-over-year comparisons.

  • Total album sales, -10.6%
  • CD sales, -4.5%
  • Digital album sales, -27.4%
  • Digital tracks, -27.0%
  • Vinyl LPs, +52.0 (wow!)
  • On-demand streaming, +13.4%

Now let’s look at how things compared to the previous week.

  • Total album sales, +2.5%
  • Digital albums, +8.0%
  • Digital tracks, +1.0%
  • Vinyl LPs, -3.8%
  • On-demand streaming, -0.8% (1.880 billion streams in the country last week)
