Weekly Canadian music sales and streaming stats: 12 April 2021

Once again I have before me the latest stats from the Canadian recorded music industry, beginning with a look at year-over-year sales and streaming information. Here’s how things are today when compared to a year ago.

  • Total album sales, -18.5%
  • CD sales, -31.1%
  • Digital albums, -20.6%
  • Digital tracks, -24.1%
  • Vinyl LPs, +47.8%
  • On-demand audio streams, +14.4%

Now here are the numbers from last week compared to the week before.

  • Total album sales, -2.8%
  • CD sales, -6.4%
  • Digital albums, -4.6%
  • Digital tracks, -1.8%
  • Vinyl LPs, +13.2%
  • On-demand audio streams, -0.2% (1.889 billion streams in the country last week.)
