Weekly Canadian music sales and streaming stats: 13 December 2021

We’re coming down to the last few weeks of the year. Even though we have a bit of Christmas shopping to go, the recorded music industry has a good idea of where things are going to end up for 2021.

Year-over-year comparisons

  • Total album sales, -12.2%
  • CD sales, -7.5%
  • Digital albums, 0.0%
  • Digital tracks, -24.9%
  • Vinyl LPs, +24.0%
  • On-demand audio streams, +12.6%

Now let’s see how the fall has been advancing by comparing last week’s numbers with the week before.

  • Total album sales, -13.3%
  • CD sales, +1.8%
  • Digital albums, +7.1%
  • Digital tracks, 0.6%
  • Vinyl LPs, +4.1%
  • On-demand audio streams, +1.5% (2.114 billion streams in the country last week, a new record)
