The weekly data email from MRC come through just before suppertime last night. Here’s how things shape up for the Canadian recorded music industry this week beginning with year-over-year comparisons.
- Total album sales: -9.6%
- CD sales, -8.9%
- DIgital albums, -23.1%
- Digital tracks, -26.6%
- Vinyl LPs, +57.1% (Still not a typo!)
- On-demand audio streams, +15.1%
And now the week-over-week numbers. It’ll be interesting to see how much the first Record Store Day of the year gooses things.

- CD sales, +3.0%
- Digital albums, -1.2%
- Digital tracks, -1.7%
- Vinyl LPs, +20.7%
- On-demand audio streams, +0.1% (1.943 billion streams in the country last week)
