Weekly Canadian music sales and streaming stats: 14 June 2021

The weekly data email from MRC come through just before suppertime last night. Here’s how things shape up for the Canadian recorded music industry this week beginning with year-over-year comparisons.

  • Total album sales: -9.6%
  • CD sales, -8.9%
  • DIgital albums, -23.1%
  • Digital tracks, -26.6%
  • Vinyl LPs, +57.1% (Still not a typo!)
  • On-demand audio streams, +15.1%

And now the week-over-week numbers. It’ll be interesting to see how much the first Record Store Day of the year gooses things.

  • Total album sales, +4.1%
  • CD sales, +3.0%
  • Digital albums, -1.2%
  • Digital tracks, -1.7%
  • Vinyl LPs, +20.7%
  • On-demand audio streams, +0.1% (1.943 billion streams in the country last week)
