Weekly Canadian music sales and streaming stats: 14 November 2022

As the recorded music industry barrels towards the end of its fiscal year, will things equal or exceed where things finished in 2021? It’s a bit early–the holiday season can be make or break–but we might be able to extrapolate from this week’s figures.

Comparing last to where things were for the same week in 2021:

  • Total album sales, -10.3%
  • CD sales, -7.2%
  • Physical albums, -5.4%
  • Digital albums, -17.5%
  • Digital tracks, -16.9%
  • Vinyl LPs, -1.5%
  • On-demand audio streams, +1.38%

Now let’s look at last week to the week before:

  • Total album sales, +11.7%
  • CD sales, _10.8%
  • Digital albums, +8.1%
  • Digital tracks, +3.1%
  • Vinyl LPs, +20.2%
  • On-demand audio streams, +1.0% (2.268 billion streams in the country last week)
