With just a couple of weeks to go in the recorded music industry’s fiscal year, we have a pretty solid idea of where things are going to end up. Let’s start by comparing where things are today to where they were one year ago.

  • CD sales, -12.9%
  • Physical albums, -9.6%
  • Digital albums, -18.6%
  • Digital tracks, -16.8%
  • Vinyl LPs, -1.8%
  • On-demand audio streams, +13.3%

Now let’s compare last week to the week before.

  • Total album sales, +8.3%
  • CD sales, +11.6%
  • Digital albums, -10.2%
  • Digital tracks, -3.*%
  • Vinyl LPs, +18.9%
  • On-demand audio streams, +0.5% (2.369 billion streams in the country last week)
