Weekly Canadian music sales and streaming stats: 20 September 2021

The weekly report from MRC on Canadian sales and streaming data came in last night, but I never got around to posting it because I was so engrossed in Ken Burns’ PBS documentary on Muhammed Ali. And then I started watching election coverage. But better late than never, right?

Here are your year-after-year numbers.

  • Total album sales, -10.5%
  • CD sales, -3.7%
  • Digital albums, -27.5%
  • Digital tracks, -26.6%
  • Vinyl LPs, +48.2%
  • On-demand audio streams, +12.4%.

Now comparing last week to the week before:

  • Total album sales, -7.3%
  • CD sales, -3.6%
  • Digital albums, -15.5%
  • Digital tracks, -3.1%
  • Vinyl LPs, +1.6%
  • On-demand audio streams, +1.0% (1.940 billion streams in the country last week)

All data from MRC.
