Weekly Canadian music sales and streaming stats: 22 May 2023

Doesn’t matter that today is a holiday. Luminate has issued its weekly look at Canadian music sales and streaming. The first set of numbers compare last week to the same week in 2022.

  • Total album sales, -4.9%
  • CD sales, +0.1%
  • Digital albums, -13.1%
  • Digital tracks, -10.1%
  • Vinyl LPs, +17.7%
  • On-demand audio streams, +15.9%

Let’s look at last week compare to the week before.

  • Total album sales, -3.4%
  • CD sales, -2.4%
  • Digital albums, -10.9%
  • Digital tracks, +0.9%
  • Vinyl LPs, +7.1%
  • On-demand audio streams, +0.6% (2.558 billion streams in the country last week. Again, I think that’s an all time record)
