Right on schedule, Luminate, the watcher of what happens in the recorded music industry, issued its weekly summary of Canadian music sales and streaming. Here’s how things shaped up last week compared to the same week in 2021.

  • Total album sales, -11.4%
  • CD sales, -5.6%
  • Digital albums, -21.1%
  • Digital tracks, -20.7%
  • Vinyl LPs, -1.8%
  • On-demand audio streams, +12.4%

Now let’s compare last week to the week before.

  • Total album sales, -6.7%
  • CD sales, -4.3%
  • Digital albums, -8.7%
  • Digital tracks, +3.6%
  • Vinyl LPs, -8.8% (Record Store Day figures won’t be included until next week)
  • On-demand audio streams, -3.3% (2.084 billion streams in the country last week)
