Weekly Canadian music sales and streaming stats: 28 August 2023

As the summer ticks down towards Labour Day, the recorded music industry already has its mind of Q4. Can it improve on any of these numbers?

Last week compared to the week before:

  • Total album sales, -5.6%
  • CD sales, -11.3%
  • Digital albums, -12.6%
  • Digital tracks, -10.9%
  • Vinyl LPs, +21.4%
  • On-demand audio streams, +18.3%

Now here’s last week compared to the same week in 2022. These are…interesting.

  • Total album sales, +30.9%
  • CD sales, +58.6%
  • Digital albums, -1.8%
  • Digital tracks, -2.2%
  • Vinyl LPs, +61.4%
  • On-demand audio streams, -0.6% (2.481 billion streams in the country last week)
