Weekly Canadian music sales and streaming stats: 28 December 2021

Yeah, it’s the holidays, but statistics never rest. Here’s how things shaped up for the second-last week of 2021.

Year-over-year numbers:

  • Total album sales, -12.4%
  • CD sales, -7.7%
  • Digitial albums, -26.8%
  • Digital tracks, -24.9%
  • Vinyl LPs, +21.2%
  • On-demand audio streams, +12.6%

Now comparing last week to the week before:

  • Total album sales, +17.4% (a nice Christmas bump)
  • CD sales, +17.4% (ditto)
  • Digital albums, +5.5%
  • Digital tracks, +0.5%
  • Vinyl LPs, +29.1% (lots of record under the tree)
  • On-demand audio streams, -0.7% (2,106 billion streams in the country last week)
