With most of January in the books, here’s how the Canadian recorded music industry is doing so far this year, starting as usual with the year-over-year stats.

  • Total album sales, -1.3%
  • CD sales, +22.1%
  • Digital albums, +14.7%
  • Digital tracks, -20.1%
  • Vinyl LPs, +3.5%
  • On-demand audio streams, +12.1%

Now let’s compare last week with the week before.

  • Total album sales, +3.2%
  • CD sales, +13.7%
  • Digital albums, +7.8%
  • Digitial tracks, +6.0%
  • Vinyl LPs, -3,8%
  • On-demand audio streams, +3.4% (2.029 billion streams in the country last week)
