Once again, we turn to MRC/Nielsen for a check on what’s happening with Canadian music sales and streaming. We begin with a look at things last week as compared to the same week in 2020.

  • Total album sales, -28.1%
  • CD sales, -46.9%
  • Digital albums, -19.4%
  • Digital tracks, -24.5%
  • Vinyl LPs, +24.2%
  • On-demand audio streams, +10.8%

A better gauge might be how things are improving (or not) week-over-week.

  • Total album sales, +0.2%
  • CD sales, -2.3%
  • Digital albums, +3.4%
  • Digital tracks, -2.0%
  • Vinyl LPs, -1.5%
  • On-demand audio streams, +1.2% (1.870 billion streams in the country last week)
