Weekly Canadian music sales and streaming stats May 17, 2020

It was Juno Week in Canada, so there was plenty of promotion of music last week. Let’s see if it factored into these weekly stats from Luminate.

Year-over-year numbers:

  • Total album sales, -11.2%
  • CD sales, -5.0%
  • Digital albums, -21.9%
  • Digital tracks, -20.4%
  • Vinyl LPs, +0/7%
  • On-demand audio streams, +13.3%

Week-over-week numbers:

  • Total album sales: +0.6%
  • CD sales, -6.1%
  • Digital albums, +3.8%
  • Digital tracks, -5.0%
  • Vinyl LPs, +9.8%
  • On-demand audio streams, +1.1% (2,209 billion streams in the country. I think this is a new record.)
