Weekly survey: Help build a vinyl library from scratch. What should it include?

Time for your community service project of the week. Allen emailed me over the weekend with an interesting question starting a vinyl collection.

He just bought a stereo complete with a turntable. However, he has absolutely NO vinyl in the house. What records should he buy first?

There are a couple of ways to look at this. Allen could start with buying his favourite albums of all time. Or he could build a foundation of everyone’s-gotta-have-it classic albums. Or he could seek out albums that will show off the high-fidelity capabilities of his new system.

What would you suggest Allen do?
