Weekly survey: What is your song of the summer of 2018?

I hate to mention it, but Labour Day is this weekend. Summer–at least when it comes to those glorious weeks of time off–is coming to an end. Time to gather some thoughts and memories about the music we’ve heard.

This week’s question is extremely simple: What is your song of the summer of 2018? What song will you forever associate something you’ve done/seen/experienced this year?

Obviously, there cannot be any incorrect answers, although I’m sure there will be plenty of interesting contributions. What’s yours?

Spotify, which is all about collecting listener data, offers up their Songs of the Summers charts featuring tracks that have been streamed more than any others. Is this a metric we can go by?

This is Spotify’s global chart:

  1. In My Feelings – Drake
  2. Girls Like You – Maroon 5 (feat. Cardi B)
  3. I Like It – Cardi B (feat. Bad Bunny, J Balvin)
  4. Lucid Dreams – Juice WRLD
  5. SAD! – XXXTENTACION
  6. Better Now – Post Malone
  7. One Kiss – Calvin Harris (with Dua Lipa)
  8. Solo – Clean Bandit (feat. Demi Lovato)
  9. Taste – Tyga (feat. Offset)
  10. Youngblood – 5 Seconds of Summer
  11. God’s Plan – Drake

  17. Moonlight – XXXTENTACION
  18. Don’t Matter To Me – Drake (with Michael Jackson)
  19. Rise – Jonas Blue
  20. Nonstop – Drake

If we break it down to just Canada, we’re left with this:

  1. In My Feelings – Drake
  2. Sick Mode – Travis Scott
  3. FEFE (feat. Nicki Minaj & Murda Beatz) – 6ix9ine
  4. Girls Like You (feat. Cardi B) – Maroon 5

Not a lot of rock here, is there?
