Weird News from the World of Radio

Here are a couple of things from the broadcasting industry I feel I need to bring to your attention.

  1. The flip to all Christmas music all the time has already begun. In fact, Lite 105 in Dayton, Ohio, made the flip on August 25.
  2. SiriusXM Canada debuted nine all Christmas music channels this week.
  3. FM Rock 92 in Asheboro, North Carolina, has a new contest with a grand prize of a one-way ticket to Canada, a two night stay in a hotel, some maple syrup, a Rush CD and a six pack of Molson Canadian. The winner can claim the prize before January 20, which, of course, is when the new president is sworn in.
  4. KPISS.FM is an Internet radio station run out of a studio in a shipping container in an alley off Broadway in New York. The founder is a displaced DJ from Edmonton.

You’re welcome.

  • You might not like Halloween, Alan, but Christmas music drives me up the wall. A little bit is OK, but outside of a few songs, I really hate most of it. I don’t know how the staff who work at these 24 hour a day Christmas music stations keep their sanity?

  • Thanks Alan! Your shout out helps us keep the piss flowing. If you’d ever like to guest DJ or do an interview you are invited to the alley in person or virtually in our Golden Stream. Much love, KPISS.FM
