Weird record alert: a 3-inch record from The Raconteurs

The advantage of owning your own record label and having access to a vinyl pressing plant is that you can do all kinds of weird things just because you feel like it.

With Record Store Day 2019 looming in about four months, labels–including Jack White’s Third Man–are busy putting together interesting and odd releases decided to get the punters into the stores.

In the case of Third Man, there are plans for a 3-inch Raconteurs album. Yes, I said “3-inch.”

And yes, you’ll need a special turntable to play the thing. Third Man will happily sell you one of those, too. These are made by Crosley. And no, we’re not sure what the rotational speed of the record will be.

This isn’t the first time that Third Man has gone down to three inches. There’s are White Stripes releases that now sells for big dollars on eBay.
