We’re Getting Closer: My Bloody Valentine Agonizes Over Artwork for New Album

So after more than 21 years, a new My Bloody Valentine album seems to have been completed and is almost ready for a 2013 release.

The biggest thing on everyone’s minds is the album artwork.  Graphic designer Anthony Peters is in charge of coming up with something.

I had the opportunity to pitch for the sleeve design on the new My Bloody Valentine sleeve, no brief, just a few images supplied by the band. 4 rounds of pitches and i was pipped to the post at the last minute, still waiting to for the release so I can see who won the job!. I was over the moon even to be in the running as MBV have always been one of my favourite bands! All typography is taken from the Loveless album as placeholder text as I wasn’t privvy to any song titles or sleevenotes! My only direction was that the sleeve should be ‘Abstract’ and ‘Hynagogic’

What the hell would you do with that kind of direction?

  • Don't expect to be blown away. With MBV opening the door to an entire genre of music, there isn't anything they can do that countless shoegaze/dream-pop bands have done in 20-plus years, and are currently doing right now.
