Music News

What are you trying to say with this post, Foo Fighters? [Another slight update]

It appears that the Foo Fighters are about to announce…something. A new single? A new album? More tour dates? The accompanying music sounds–it runs all of 13 seconds–very Foo-ish. I have no trouble believing that the band has new music in the pipeline. They’ve got their own studio where they can work in complete privacy and what better way to work through the grief surrounding Taylor Hawkins’ death than to throw themselves into their work?

Remember when that British DJ accidentally mentioned the existence of a new Foos album? He said it would be out in March. Maybe it’s May. Or any second.

And yes, I’m thinking what everyone is thinking: who’s the new drummer?

UPDATE 1: Let’s look at this from the perspective of the band’s record label and a tried-and-true way of spreading the hype.

  • Step 1: If a label has something big to release, a teaser post is sent out on Wednesday to get fans in a froth.
  • Step 2: An official announcement of a single comes Thursday.
  • Step 3: At 12:01 am Friday, the new song debuts.

Sony, the Foos’ label, has followed this forumla countless times with their artists. So…

UPDATE 2: It’s Friday morning and…nothing. Hmm.
