What’s the next big reunion for a 90s band? Maybe The Verve

Whenever a big band has a massively successful reunion tour, there are inevitably knock-on effects. “Hey, if they can do that–and make all that money–maybe we can, too.”

Richard Ashcroft experienced first-hand the glories of the Oasis tour as the opener for the shows in the UK. That’s got him thinking about bringing back The Verve.

Seventeen years after The Verve broke up, he’s seriously considering putting the band back together, which would be extremely cool, of course. Then again, the source is the “Bizarre” column in the UK’s The Sun.

Still, let me quote:

“Richard’s had a stellar year and his tour was a massive success. During the Oasis shows he saw the love people had for The Verve and their music, and it got people talking.

“There are many people who think getting The Verve back together to celebrate Urban Hymns would be an absolute coup – not only for the band but for their fans.”

The break-up was a bad one. But maybe…?
