Which musical genres are worst for the planet? There’s been a study.

Touring is not good for the environment. Huge amounts of people and equipment need to be transported over vast distances with planes, buses, and trucks. Each stop on the tour eats up energy, too. Until we can have modular nuclear reactors onsite or infallible renewable energy, this is the way things are going to be.

An American company called Payless Power commissioned a study to determine which musical genres do the most damage to the planet when they go on the road. The answer: EDM, hands down.

Based on an analysis of 2022 tour dates, EDM artists produced the most CO2.
