Whither These Solid Indie Bands from the 00’s?

Never before in the history of humanity has there been this much music.  And never before have this many people been making music.  However, the competition for the public’s ears means that there is much churn and many casualties.  Being good isn’t enough to guarantee any kind of success or longevity.

The NME has put together this list of 46 quality indie bands which briefly held our attention in the 00’s but then slipped beneath the waves.  For example, I remember being interested in these bands for a nanosecond or two:

  • Be Your Own Pet
  • Does It Offend You, Yeah?
  • Dogs Die in Hot Cars
  • VHS or Beta
  • Tapes ‘N’ Tapes
  • Boy Kill Boy

Anyone else you’d care to remember, if just for an instant?

  • Off-hand, White Rose Movement (mentioned in the article) and Saturna (not mentioned) come to mind. I still listen to them.

  • Oh just thought of another. Love Spalding Rockwell. Highly recommended if you were ever into electro-clash.
