Who are some of the biggest scalpers of Taylor Swift tickets? Taylor Swift fans.

Ever since tickets for the Eras tour went on sale last year, Taylor Swift fans have been moaning about how they’re not able to get into the shows because (a) they’re all sold out and (b) scalpers who managed to get tickets are selling them for crazy prices. This has led to millions of Swifties demanding justice from everyone they can assign blame to: Ticketmaster, Live Nation, StubHub, etc.

Here’s the hard truth. Ticketmaster was so good at blocking access to tickets by secondary sellers that a new market was created: Tay-Tay fans who are taking the opportunity to gouge other fans by selling them Eras tickets for 10x the face value.

Billboard reports (paywall) that because so many tickets went to fans, plenty of them just can’t resist the urge to make money by flipping them to those who didn’t by moving them on sites like StubHub. Admittedly, only a small percentage of fans are doing this, but that kinda flies in the face of the values of the Swifty community, doesn’t it?

This again underscores the impossibility of keeping tickets out of the hands of scalpers and resellers. Someone always has their price. It’s just a matter of haggling over what that price is.
