Who is the most successful live act of all time? (Hint: It’s not Tay-Tay)

There are many ways to determine success in the live touring industry. If we look at the sheer number of tickets sold over the course of a career, no one–at least not yet–has beaten Elton John

Noise11.com has a summary of Elton’s career accomplishments on stage.

  • US$3.18 billion in lifetime revenue from concert ticket sales
  • 4,181 concerts performed since 1970 (plus 210 with Billy Joel and another 19 with Leon Russell)
  • 43.5 million tickets sold.

Here are his most-performed songs:

  • Your Song
  • Rocket Man
  • Bennie and the Jets
  • Don’t Let The Sun Go Down On Me
  • I Guess That’s Why They Call It The Blues
  • Philadelphia Freedom
  • Saturday Night’s Alright For Fighting
  • Tiny Dancer
  • The Bitch Is Back
  • I’m Still Standing

Elton’s final tour, Goodbye Yellow Brick Road, brought in US$939.1 billion through selling six million tickets. It ended in Sweden in July 2023.
