Whoops! Details on the iPhone 8 Have Leaked–by Apple
I held off on buying an iPhone 7 last year because I want to see what Apple had in store for the 10th-anniversary model which should logically be called iPhone 8. But you know Apple, right?
Because everyone knows that even-number iPhones tend to be redesigns, the rumour-mongering about what form the new device is in overdrive with all the tech sites slobbering over the latest leaks from analysts, people in the supply chain and West Wing-grade leakers. Today, though, something different: a leak from Apple.
After digging through the firmware for other devices and the upcoming iOS11 (currently in beta), it’s been revealed that the new phone will use infrared scanning to do a facial recognition check. It’ll scan your face, replacing the need for entering a password or even using Touch ID. As for the phone itself, it appears that it will be nearly bezel-less, with the screen covering almost the entire front side.
