Why did Beyonce ban photographers taking pictures of her at Kobe’s memorial?

There wasn’t a dry eye anywhere in the Staples Centre in LA or anywhere the memorial for Kobe Bryant and his daughter Gianna was streamed. It was an extremely moving and somber event.

Christina Aguilera performed. So did Alicia Keys. And Beyonce was there to sing her songs “XO” and “Halo” because they were two of Gianna’s favourite songs. That was nice.

Not so nice was Beyonce’s demands that no photographer take her picture while she performed. Staff was sent out into the photo pit to make sure that not a single camera was pointed at Bey during her performance. She was the only person who demanded such a thing.

Why? Because Beyonce is fiercely protective of her image. She demands that she or her people approve of any and all shots of her. Only the most flattering get released.

Okay, I get it. But at a memorial? She made it all about her image? That didn’t even happen at Michael Jackson’s memorial.

I think you spell that D-I-V-A.

  • She’s always been a diva, with photo releases only allowing 90 seconds of photography, but it got worse after that one clown released a very unflattering photo of her from a concert. Ever since then, she’s been on lockdown. He basically screwed it up for all concert shooters.
