Medical Mysteries of Music

Why do certain songs become our favourites? Let’s ask science.

At the end of a Las Vegas weekend, a friend and I rented a car and headed up toward Area 51. We immediately ran into issues when we couldn’t agree on the music for this roadtrip. I didn’t like any of her selections and she hated all of mine. This led to a discussion about what was wrong with each other’s musical tastes, which, if I’m honest, made the drive a lot quicker.

But why do we have favourite songs? Maybe this TEDx talk on the subject will help. (Via Shaun)
