Will Ferrell gets an Oscar nomination for Best Original Song

If you scroll down through the nominations for the 2021 Oscars that were announced this morning, you’ll find something refreshingly odd about the Best Original Song category.

“Fight For You,” Judas and the Black Messiah
“Hear My Voice,” The Trail of the Chicago Seven
“Husavik,” Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga
“Io Si,” The Life Ahead
“Speak Now,” One Night in Miami

That song is from the Will Ferrell/Rachel McAdams movie that spoofs the whole Eurovision Song Contest.

Here’s the actual song.

There really is a Husavik, Iceland, too. The good citizens have been behind the movie and the song from the beginning.
