Will the Toronto Raptors Change Their Team Colours Because of Drake?

Those who follow the NBA know that Drake was hired as the team’s “global ambassador” last year–whatever that means. January 11’s game against Brooklyn  has been declared “Drake Day.”  And now there’s a story that the team might re-brand itself with new colours to better reflect those of Drake’s OVO record label.

Instead of being red/black/white, rumour is that team officials are considering a move to a black-and-gold scheme.

Really?  Yup, says the Toronto Star.  Read about it here.

  • Isn’t this the equivalent of getting a Nickelback tattoo, because hey, I’m always gonna LOVE Nickelback and their music will NEVER go out of style…?

  • I think the premise behind it is lame, but the colour scheme is actually really cool. It’s almost a guarantee the Raptors jersey will be the best selling jersey in the NBA, which I’m guessing is part of the plan also. Attendance on the road will go up, the players will proudly wear it with its urban feel, and promo for Drake doesn’t hurt.
