With four Coldplay shows between now and Saturday, the new Rogers Stadium is making adjustments

Rogers Stadium, the new 50,000-person venue in YZD (formerly known as Downsview Park) in Toronto, is having some expected growing pains. Built in just nine months, it has just one show under its belt (the K-pop outfit Stray Kids last week). The big test starts tonight when Coldplay moves in for the first of four shows.

Live Nation is looking at ways to make egress from the show smoother after concertgoers struggled to get out of the stadium and get home after that first gig. Some fans were quite miffed, especially with transit services. Other complaints included lack of signage, long walks, issues with accessible parking, and long lines at water stations.

Live Nation says: “We are already making adjustments based on fan and community feedback and will continue to refine our operations to ensure a positive and safe experience for everyone at Rogers Stadium and in our neighbouring community this summer — working closely with city officials, the TTC and Metrolinx, emergency services, and our community partners along the way.”

None of this should be surprising. It’s a new venue in a new part of town requiring new ways of entering and exiting. Fans have to get used to the new site. These four Coldplay shows should–hopefully–see things run more smoothly.
