WTF? Billie Joe Armstrong Joins “The Voice”

Yes, THAT The Voice.  God love ‘im, but any pretenses of being an honest-to-Christ punk are gone forever.

What’s next?  Replacing Randy on American Idol?

From The Wall Street Journal:

The competition between the various singing competitions may be better than the actual singing on the shows themselves. Last night it was announced that Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong would be joining “The Voice.” The Grammy-winning punk rocker, the force behind such albums as “Dookie” and “American Idiot,” will serve as a mentor assisting Christina Aguilera’s team.

Wake me up when this all ends.

  • And that was Green Day's last shred of music credibility evaporating you just heard. When musicians who ACTUALLY paid dues playing in shitty clubs for years, give the "instant fame-tv singing contest show road to stardom" validity, you know it's stopped being about he music, and all about fame and money. Pathetic.

  • Putting a skull and cross bones on your thousand dollar suit doesn't make you punk rock, Billie.

  • NO! I'm going to cry. When did it stop being about the music?
