Yet another rock biopic, this time focusing on Johnny Thunders

It’s about bloody time someone had the sense to make a biopic about one-time New York Dolls guitarist, Johnny Thunders. While he, The Dolls, and The Heartbreakers all factored into the pre-punk and full-on punk eras, the craziest part of his story is when he died in New Orleans on April 23, 1991.

He’d made the move to pick up the pieces of his music career after being clean and sober. But the moment he moved into St. Peter Guest House, things began to go wrong.

Johnny had acquired a rather large amount of methadone in England to help with his addictions. On that first day in New Orleans, he was robbed of all that methadone and whatever money he had. A least one source said that the thieves gave him LSD and then murdered him.

However, the coroner determined whatever drugs were in his system were not enough to kill him. Instead, he was revealed to have advanced leukemia. Regardless, the NOPD refused to look into any of the robbed-and-murdered allegations. To them, it was just another junkie death.T
