You’ll Never Guess What that “Suspicious Package” on a BC SeaBus Turned Out to Be

The SeaBus terminal in North Vancouver went into full freak-out mode Tuesday evening. Someone had spotted a “package” that seemed “suspicious” about the MV Burrard Beaver.

The building was evacuated. The bomb squad was called. A sniffer dog was brought in. And the “package”turned out to be…a Sony Walkman.

Someone found it under a seat.  A spokesperson says “The device that we were looking at was an old style Walkman music player. It was very unusual looking. It wasn’t clear at all that that’s what it was until the robot was able to really examine it up close.”

Wow.  Interesting that (a) whoever spotted the Walkman and never seen one before; and (b) someone was still using a Walkman.

How times have changed, huh? (Via Tom and the CBC)
