YouTube Names the Song of the Summer of 2014

Yeah, it’s Iggy Azalea and “Fancy.” We just couldn’t get away from it, could we?

Here are the top Google searches for artists in the US between Memorial Day and Labour Day:

  1. Iggy Azalea
  2. Nicki Minaj
  3. Selena Gomez
  4. Beyonce
  5. Rihanna
  6. Taylor Swift
  7. Chris Brown
  8. Katy Perry
  9. Luke Bryan
  10. Lil Wayne

And now, the most-streamed songs on Google Play Music during the same period.

  1. Iggy Azalea – Fancy
  2. Ariana Grande – Problem
  3. DJ Snake & Lil Jon – Turn Down for What
  4. Nico & Vinz – Am I Wrong
  5. Jason Derulo – Wiggle (feat. Snoop Dogg)
  6. Lil Wayne – Believe Me
  7. Katy Perry – Dark Horse
  8. Calvin Harris – Summer
  9. Magic! – Rude
  10. Frozen – Let it Go

This is close to the most-streamed songs on YouTube:

  1. Iggy Azalea – Fancy
  2. Jason Derulo – Wiggle (feat. Snoop Dogg)
  3. Ariana Grande – Problem
  4. Magic! – Rude
  5. Psy – Gangnam Style
  6. Pharrell – Happy
  7. DJ Snake & Lil Jon – Turn Down for What
  8. Frozen – Let it Go
  9. Nicki Minaj – Anaconda
  10. Katy Perry – Dark Horse

I should point out that “Fancy” was the most-streamed song period this summer, regardless of the service. And notice that people are still watching “Gangnam Style.”
