The 50 Best-Selling Artists of All Time Are…

The metrics of success in the music industry are changing fast. The concept of the biggest-selling artists of all time is becoming something of a quaint idea as we move from sales of physical product and music files to streaming. But there’s still this fascination with artists who managed to convince people to move through time and space to acquire some physical manifestation of their work.

Business Insider has put together this list of the artists who have moved the most product over their careers. To give you an idea of the numbers we’re talking about, the Dave Matthews Band places number 5o on the list with 33.5 million units. You’ll be shocked where people like Kenny G, Journey and Neil Diamond place.

Here’s the top seven:

  1. Beatles – 178 million units
  2. Garth Brooks – 136 million
  3. Elvis Presley – 136 million
  4. Eagles – 101 million
  5. Billy Joel – 82.5 million
  6. Michael Jackson – 79 million
  7. AC/DC – 72 million
