A Mexican indie musician and his entire family were murdered on Tuesday
Camilo Séptimo is a Mexican indie rock band. Keyboardist Jonathan Meléndez, his pregnant wife, Ana Paula, his 3-year-old daughter, the 21-year-old family nanny, and their dog were all murdered in Mexico City on September 1. Their bodies were found in the upscale neighbourhood of Atizapán de Zaragoza.
It appears that multiple men entered their home between 5:30 and 7:40 pm on that Tuesday. Three of the victims, including the daughter, were shot in the head. Two were shot in the back. The dog was found with his legs tied. The only survivor was a 6-year-old boy who was found at the scene.
Two men have been arrested. Diego Sebastián “N” is described as an “associate” of Meléndez. Gerardo “N” is also being investigated.
Camilo Séptimo was formed in 2013, with their music displaying influences ranging from Arctic Monkeys to Daft Punk. They were nominated for a number of awards over their career which spawned four studio albums so far.
