Creepy or Cool? Facebook Messenger Now Makes Spotify Recommendations by Analyzing Your Conversations.

If you use Facebook Messages, you might be acquainted with M, the app’s intelligent assistant. M will now offer up a song suggestion whenever music comes up in a conversation. Basically, M is triggered by a variety of phrases. When it wakes up, it’ll do something like this (via The Verge).

You can also type in something like “play some music” or “listen to music” and M will reach out to Spotify to grab you something.

That I can live with. If I’m honest, though, the idea of even a virtual assistant eavesdropping on a conversation is a little creepy. Or is it just me?
