Does it really take 15 people to write one song these days?

If you look at the writing credits for a lot of today’s popular music, you won’t see just one or two or three names listed. There might be nine, twelve, or more. Even bands like Coldplay are farming out a lot of the credits. This is a screenshot of a portion of the tracklisting from their latest album Moon Music. Note that track three is credited to 15 people as well as five producers.
