Don’t Ask “Why Did Chris Cornell and Chester Bennington Kill Themselves.” Instead Ask “Why the Pain?”

Dave Johnson is a huge fan of Chris Cornell and was affected greatly by his death. Browsing for information about why Chris took his own life, he stumbled upon all sorts of looney “Chris-Cornell-and-Chester-Bennington-were-murdered” conspiracy theories. This fake news/alternate universe way of thinking disturbed him enough that he had to make this video about the whole phenomenon of suicide.

He believes that the subject isn’t discussed enough given that three times as many people in the US kill themselves (approximately 44,183 in 2016) than are the victims of homicides (15,696 in 2016). Dave positions his discussions differently. “Don’t ask why the suicide. Ask why the pain?”

On the same topic, here’s an episode of the Live from the 905 podcast that deals with musicians and mental illness.
