My Favourite Novel Set in the Music Industry Is Finally Being Made into a Movie

If you’ve never read John Niven’s 2008 novel, Kill Your Friends, order it now and read it immediately.  It is by far the most entertaining novel set in the music industry that I’ve ever read.

To summarize:  Steven Stelfox is a detestable, coke-addled A&R man stumbling his way through the British music industry during the Britpop era.  Then someone dies.  I’ll leave it at that other than to say that what happens next is very funny and wildly entertaining.  Everyone I’ve recommended the book to has loved it.

Nicholas Hoult (if you watch Skins you know who he is) will play Stelfox.  (Thank God Robert Pattinson didn’t get the role; he apparently really wanted it.) Shooting starts next month.
