Survey

If you’re the kind who sings in the shower, you’ll want to read this.

I’ve never understood the need to and appeal of singing in the show, but that’s just me. And based on what we all hear through pop culture, it’s a thing.

The latest bit of information comes through one of those commercials masquerading as a survey, this time via Water Filter Guru, an American company. (Makes sense that they’d commission a study like this, right?)

Here are their data. You’ll probably have the same thoughts I did.

  • Most common shower-song artists: (1) Taylor Swift, (2) Drake, (3) The Weekend, (4) SZA, and (5) Rihanna
  • Most popular songs: (1) “Good Days” by SZA, (2) “Pink+ White” by Frank Ocean, (3) “No Role Modelz” by J. Cole, (4) “Die for You” by The Weeknd, and (5) “Love on the Brain” by Rihanna.
  • Average length of a shower song: 3 minutes and 30 seconds.
  • Average BPM of a shower song: 120.

Rock fans like to sing in the shower, too, although you really have to dig into the data. The top rock shower songs are: (1) Do I Wanna Know?” by Arctic Monkeys, (2) “I Wanna Be Yours” by Arctic Monkeys, and (3) “Cigarette Daydreams” by Cage the Elephant.

If we take all songs and break things down by artist, we get Arctic Monkeys in first place, followed by Tame Impala, and The Beatles.

How Arctic Monkeys finished so high on an American survey should tell us something about the people who were quizzed, but I’m not sure what.

Metal songs didn’t even account for 1% of all shower songs, right down there with gospel, and reggaeton.

Then there’s this.
