Join me for a live podcast performance of Uncharted: Crime and Mayhem in the Music Industry. The topic? Music and the Mob.
Departure–now in its second year as the new incarnation for Canadian Music Week–runs May 4-10 in Toronto. Along with the conference, showcases, comedy performances, and film screenings, there will be a series of special events. One of them features me.
On Thursday, May 7, I will perform an episode of my podcast, Uncharted: Crime and Mayhem in the Music Industry, live at the Jane Mallett Theatre, which is inside the St. Lawrence Centre for the Arts at 27 Front Street East. The topic is Music and The Mob.
It’s a multimedia presentation filled with stories of mobsters, gangsters, goodfellas, made guys, bosses, capos, and soldiers who got their hooks into the music industry over the last 100 years.
There will be tales of rub-outs, kidnappings, beatings, bribes, and a lot more. In fact, I think Martin Scorsese should come to this thing so he can option it for his next movie. It really is like a music industry version of Goodfellas and The Sopranos, but real. Very, very real.
